ATTRACTIONS:
Ljubljana is a tiny capital, located in the heart of Europe. It is definitely worth a visit, as it is consdiered to be a yet undiscovered gem of Europe. It is so small, that you can walk everywhere. Ljubljana is sometimes called mini-Prague, because of its beautiful architecture. Ljubljana was the Green Capital of Europe in 2016. Car traffic is restricted in the centre, leaving the city centre free for pedestrians and cylicsts.
Ljubljana Castle
The main tourist attraction is the castle. There are a few ways to access the castle, the easiest way for sure is taking the 70m-long funicular, which leaves near the market on Vodnikov trg. There are also a few walking routes, but the hike is definitely worth it when you get on top. There you’ll get a great view over the city and also the mountains in the distance.
The symbol of Ljubljana is the dragon, which can be seen on the iconic Dragon Bridge, and the city’s most famous attraction Ljubljana Castle.
The Triple Bridge
The famous Triple Bridge is located just next to Prešeren square. It runs south from Prešernov trg to the Old Town. When it was built as a single bridge in 1842 it wasn’t considered anything special, but the architect Jože Plečnik added the two pedestrian side bridges, and that’s when the bridge got its name.
Prešern squere
In the middle of Ljubljana’s main square stands the monument to Slovenia’s most famous poet, France Prešeren. The square is considered the heart of the city, and is oftena favourite point where the locals meet up.
Ljubljanica river
In the heart of the city, on the banks of Ljubljanica river, you will find many bars and cafes, where you can just sit, have a drink and relax while watching the busy locals runing around.
A must-do while you’re here is also taking a boat tour, where you’ll be able to see all the main attractions from a different perspective.
